Provincial unification developments

Three provincial bodies issued communications related to unification developments. Read the messages from CMA BC, CGA-BC and ICAS here.

In response to member and stakeholder inquiries, the CMA Canada national board issues a communication confirming commitment to unification.

Update on Ontario unification discussions

On May 15, the ICAO confirmed in a message to members that unification of the profession remains their goal despite announcements from CMA Ontario and CGA Ontario that they are no longer participating in unification discussions. The ICAO emphasized that it remains part of the national unification, believing that unification would benefit all accountants, protect the public interest and strengthen the future of accounting in Canada. ICAO therefore intends to stay involved with developments across Canada and to work with those parties who share similar beliefs.
