Comment:
The Rules of Professional Conduct were adopted as the Rules of Professional Conduct of the Institute at a Special General Meeting of Members held on 17 June 1976. Amendments thereto were adopted by the members at Meetings of Members held 24 June 1977, 21 June 1978, 5 June 1980, 8 June 1981, 6 June 1983, 15 June 1985, 5 June 1986, 16 June 1988, 10 June 1989, 16 June 1990, 6 June 1991 and 17 June 1993.
2. The Code of Ethics of the Institute existing immediately prior to the adoption of said Rules of Professional Conduct, the Guidelines relating thereto and the procedures for the processing of complaints against members, all as were contained in Part V of the Bylaws of the Institute, were repealed in their entirety, provided that the repeal of such Code of Ethics would not affect its previous operation, nor that of any right, privilege, liability or obligation acquired, accrued, accruing or incurred thereunder, that such Code of Ethics would continue to be effective and apply to any act or omission of any member or members which occurred, or is alleged to have occurred, prior to the coming into force of the Rules of Professional Conduct, and that any complaint as to default or professional misconduct on the part of a member or members which has occurred, or is alleged to have occurred, prior to the coming into force of the Rules of Professional Conduct would be continued or made pursuant to and in accordance with the procedures set forth in Rules 80 to 88 inclusive of said Code of Ethics.
